Paraskevi PATOULIDOU

Paraskevi (Voula) Patoulidou was born on the 29th of March of 1965 at Tripotamon of Florina. She weights 61 kgs and her height is 1, 68 m. She belongs to Aris Salonica G.C.
At the 1992 Olympic Games of Barcelona, Voula was the surprise winner of the Women's 100 m. hurdles race. That was the first great success of a Greek Track & Field athlete since 1956, and gave a boost to the sport that resulted to the recent successes of Greek athletes. She was, also, the first woman from Greece to receive an Olympic medal in Track & Field.  After the Barcelona Olympics she continued training, but not in the 100 m. nor the 100 m. hurdles. She resumed training in Long Jump, from where she had started, but gave up her career (for the time being) after the Athens World Championships, in order to give birth to her first baby. Before that, she managed to participate in her second Olympic Games' Final, that of the Long Jump in the Atlanta Games. Her personal bests are: 100 m.: 11" 27. (1990), 100 m. Hurdles: 12" 64. (1992), Long Jump: 6" 71. (1995), 60 m. Hurdles: 8" 08. (1990). Her two records at the Hurdles' events are also National records for Greece.
