Konstantinos TSIKLITIRAS

Konstantinos Tsiklitiras was probably the best Greek athlete ever. He is the only one to have won medals in two Olympiads, having won two Silver medals in London (1908) as well as one golden and one bronze in Stockholm (1912). His premature death prevented him from continuing collecting more in the following Olympiads. He was born in Pylos at 1888 and came in Athens in order to follow Commercial studies. His affection for sports and his incredibly strong and formed for that period body forced him to enter the Panhellenios G.C. stadium, the sports school of Greece for many years. Except for the Long and High Jump he had also practised football and water polo for some period, with a lot of success. One year after his triumph in Stockholm he was fighting at the front of the Balkan War of 1913 and died of meniggitis at the age of 25.
